We occasionally hear from customers that they are having trouble syncing their PlanMyLeave calendar with Google Calendar. The update often takes a long time or even stops altogether.

Unfortunately, there is no immediate solution to this issue.

A little background

Your calendar app (Google in this example) periodically requests PlanMyLeave for updated information. The request comes from your Google calendar, not PlanMyLeave. Thus PlanMyLeave does not send the data directly to your calendar.

The calendar is updated automatically by Google; however, the exact time it is updated is unknown, and it is not possible to manually update it.

While some users have reported that Google updates the calendar every few hours, Google themselves states that this could take up to 12 hours. However, we have seen it take up to 24 hours in extreme circumstances.

Consider this:

Since writing this article, Google has changed the update frequency from 8 hours to 12 hours, indicating it's an ongoing problem, and they are not taking steps to improve the situation.

Here's a thread on Google's forums that's been running for more than two years about people complaining about feeds not updating Google Calendar not updating published calendar added by URL
